Eloping here in Colorado!

Eloping may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about getting married. After all, society has taught us that weddings are supposed to be big, extravagant affairs with all the bells and whistles. But what if I told you that eloping could be the best decision you make for your wedding day? Here are a few reasons why you should consider eloping. First and foremost, eloping is all about you and your partner. There's no need to worry about pleasing anyone else or meeting certain expectations. The only thing that matters is your love for each other and your commitment to spending your lives together. This can be incredibly liberating and allows you to focus on what truly matters.

Eloping is also a great way to save money. Weddings can be expensive, with the average cost in the US reaching over $30,000 according to TheKnot.com. By eloping, you can save a significant amount of money that can be used for other things, such as a down payment on a home or a dream honeymoon. Bali sounds wonderful, don’t you think? You can still have a beautiful and meaningful ceremony without breaking the bank.

Speaking of ceremonies, eloping can allow you to have a more intimate and personal ceremony. Without the pressure of a large guest list, you can choose a location that is meaningful to you both. This can make the day even more special and memorable. Another benefit of eloping is the flexibility it offers. You can choose to elope at any time and in any location, whether it's a mountaintop, a beach, or a city hall. You don't have to worry about coordinating with a lot of different vendors or dealing with the stress of planning a big event. This can be especially appealing if you have busy schedules or if you prefer a more laid-back approach to your wedding day. Here are some ideas for eloping:

1. Choose a unique location: Instead of getting married in a courthouse or a typical wedding venue, consider choosing a location that is meaningful to you both. This could be a mountaintop, a beach, a forest, or even a city street that holds special memories.

2. Write your own vows: Personalize your ceremony by writing your own vows. This is a great opportunity to express your feelings for each other in your own words and make your ceremony even more special.

3. Wear something special: Even though you're eloping, it doesn't mean you can't dress up and look your best. Choose an outfit that makes you feel confident and beautiful, whether it's a wedding dress, a suit, or something more casual.

4. Hire a photographer, like ME!!!!: Just because you're eloping doesn't mean you can't capture beautiful memories of your special day. Hire a photographer to document your ceremony and take some stunning photos of you both. I know some amazing spots to elope at! A friend of mine even has private property in Estes Park for weddings smaller than 10 people I have access to for a very small fee!

5. Exchange meaningful gifts: Consider exchanging meaningful gifts before or after your ceremony. This could be a piece of jewelry, a love letter, or something else that holds special significance for you both.

6. Have a picnic of go out to dinner just the two of you. After your ceremony, enjoy a romantic picnic together. Bring some champagne, cheese, and other treats, and spend some quality time together. Or go to your favorite restaurant to celebrate!

7. Plan a surprise: Surprise your partner with something special on your elopement day. This could be a special song, a surprise location, or a meaningful activity that you know they'll love.

Finally, eloping can be a great way to avoid family drama. This is 100% true unfortunately!  Weddings can sometimes bring out the worst in people, and family dynamics can be tricky to navigate. By eloping, you can avoid any potential conflicts and ensure that your day is peaceful and stress-free and full of people who truly support you. Of course, eloping isn't for everyone. If you have a large family or if you've always dreamed of a big, traditional wedding, then eloping may not be the best choice for you and that’s ok big weddings can be great too! But if you're looking for a more intimate, personal, and stress-free way to get married, then eloping might just be the perfect option.

Eloping can be a wonderful way to celebrate your love and commitment without all the stress and expense of a traditional wedding. It allows you to focus on what really matters – your partner and your relationship – and create a day that is tailored just for you. So, if you're considering getting married, don't rule out the option of eloping. It could be the best decision you make for your wedding day and your future.
