Red Rocks Trading Post Engagement Session | A Stunning Colorado Engagement Photo Location


If you're searching for an engagement session location that combines dramatic red rock formations, scenic mountain views, and easy accessibility, the Trading Post Trail at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater is one of Colorado's hidden gems. Just minutes from Denver and Morrison, this iconic location offers the perfect blend of adventure and romance, making it one of my favorite places to photograph engaged couples.


While many people know Red Rocks for its world-famous concerts, the Trading Post Trail showcases an entirely different side of the park. The 1.5-mile loop winds through towering sandstone formations, desert-inspired landscapes, pine trees, and open vistas, giving couples an incredible variety of backdrops without requiring a strenuous hike. Every turn offers another beautiful setting, making it easy to create a gallery filled with unique images.


One of the reasons I love photographing engagement sessions here is the incredible texture and color of the landscape. The vibrant red rocks create a striking contrast against Colorado's blue skies, while the surrounding foothills and mountain views add depth to every photograph. Whether we're capturing quiet moments tucked between the rock formations or wide scenic portraits overlooking the landscape, the Trading Post Trail never disappoints.

Golden hour is especially magical at Red Rocks. As the sun begins to set, the warm light reflects off the sandstone, creating rich golden and amber tones that make the entire park glow. The soft evening light is perfect for romantic portraits and helps create timeless images you'll treasure for years to come.

Because Red Rocks is such a popular destination, I typically recommend weekday sessions or scheduling around sunrise or sunset to avoid the largest crowds. Comfortable shoes are always a great idea since we'll explore several scenic areas along the trail while taking advantage of the park's incredible variety of landscapes.


When choosing outfits, earthy colors photograph beautifully here. Cream, tan, olive green, rust, terracotta, dusty blue, and soft neutrals complement the natural surroundings without competing with the scenery. Many couples also choose to bring a second outfit one casual and one more formal to create a diverse gallery that feels both adventurous and elegant.
