Celestial Magic & Real‑Life Soulmates Matthew & Maddie’s Wedding in the Woods

There are certain weddings that don’t just make you appreciate love they steal your heart. Matthew and Maddie’s wedding in the woods of Granby, Co, was one of those celebrations. From the moment I met them via phone call, it was clear this day would be different not just beautiful, not just intentional, but deeply real, deeply joyful, and deeply connected. As a wedding photographer, I’ve experienced countless celebrations but few have touched me the way this one did they way they did and how we became friends in the whole planning process.


Matthew is a photographer and that comes with a unique kind of energy. Matthew is a badass wedding photographer based in Minnesota, and I couldn’t help but feel an immediate kinship with him. It’s not every day I meet someone who sees our craft not just as a job, but as a way of seeing the world and who does it with skill, heart, and a playful spirit.

One of the most meaningful details of the day was Maddie’s gown custom‑made by one of her good friends. It wasn’t just stunning it was personal, expressive, and perfectly suited to her. From the moment she stepped into it, you could see the love and intention woven into every stitch. I absolutely adore when my brides wear unique gowns for their unique wedding days! I mean, come on look at that blue color on her. It was absolutely stunning.


The decor of this wedding felt like something out of a dream. Celestial accents wove through the details twinkling stars, moonlit tones, and ethereal touches that made it feel like a universe of their own. A wedding that felt like stargazing, like magic, like an open‑hearted celebration that reaches beyond the ordinary into something beautifully timeless. Every detail from invitations to centerpieces carried that otherworldly, intimate energy.


One of their closest friends officiated the ceremony, and it added a layer of warmth and sincerity that you can’t fake. When someone who knows you deeply stands with you as you make lifelong promises, it elevates the moment from beautiful to transcendent. It wasn’t just a reading or swearing‑in it was witness, friendship, and shared life history standing alongside them as they stepped into marriage.


This couple..... I’ve never met anyone so down‑to‑earth, genuine, and just fucking awesome. They have a grounded warmth that makes you feel seen and welcomed. They’re the kind of people who laugh easily, love deeply, and make lasting connections without even trying. To photograph them wasn’t just an honor it was an absolute gift. And for the first time in a long time, I walked away from a wedding not just with beautiful images, but with new friends. That’s a rare experience in this industry.


Matthew and Maddie have become more than clients they’ve become friends.
