Why RMNP is One of My Favorite Places for Engagement Photos
If you’re looking for the perfect place to capture your engagement photos, let me just say this: you cannot go wrong with Rocky Mountain National Park. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph love stories all over the state but RMNP holds a special place in my heart (and my camera roll). It’s wild, it’s romantic, and it’s absolutely breathtaking—just like your love story. Whether you want playful, dreamy, or classic vibes, RMNP delivers every time.
Why I Love Shooting Engagement Sessions in RMNP
1. Endless Variety in One Location
From sparkling lakes and open meadows to alpine forests and epic mountain overlooks, RMNP is a photographer’s dream. We can start with soft morning light at Sprague Lake, chase wildflowers in Moraine Park, and end with golden hour glow from Trail Ridge Road (if it's open!).
2. It’s Timeless and True to You
The natural beauty of the park doesn’t compete with your connection, it enhances it. No trendy backdrops or props needed here. Just you two, a whole lot of love, and some of Colorado’s most iconic landscapes.
3. It’s a Memory-Making Experience
These sessions are more than just photos they’re adventures. You’ll laugh, explore, maybe even hike a little, and walk away with memories you’ll never forget (plus some seriously stunning images to prove it).
A Few of My Favorite Spots in the Park
Here are a few go-to locations I love for engagement sessions:
- Sprague Lake – Easy access + amazing reflection shots = always a win.
- Moraine Park – Open fields, big sky, and those classic mountain views.
- Bear Lake – Popular but beautiful—great in fall or winter.
- Sheep Lakes - Stunning Mountain Views
I always help couples pick the right spot based on the season, vibe, and how much exploring you want to do. Whether you're up for an easy walk or a bit of a hike, I've got options.
Permits, Planning & Pro Tips
Want to read more about permits for RMNP? Here’s the official info: RMNP Photography Permit Info. The majority of locations that I photograph at in RMNP do not require a permit. Don't worry about timed entry either! We will go after 2pm, for golden hour, and hit up all the amazing spots that don't require any permits! If you'd like to be photographed at a location that requires timed entry I can get us passes and add any fees on to your invoice.
Some tips to keep in mind:
- Sunset is STUNNING in the park
- Dress in layers—mountain weather changes fast
- Bring comfy shoes (you can always change into cute ones for photos)
- Weekdays are quieter and perfect for more privacy. I honestly do not even go on the weekends unless its for a wedding due the large crowds!
Why My Couples Love RMNP Engagement Sessions
The number one thing my couples say after their session here? “That was SO much fun.” And that’s exactly the goal. You deserve engagement photos that feel like you. Whether we’re cracking jokes in a field of wildflowers or cuddling up lakeside while the mountains glow pink behind you, my job is to capture your love in a way that’s natural, genuine, and totally timeless.
Let’s Plan Your RMNP Engagement Session
If you're dreaming of engagement photos that feel like a Colorado postcard (but better, because you’re in them!), I’d love to help make it happen. As someone who photographs couples in RMNP all the time, I know the hidden gems, the best light, and how to make your session stress-free and super fun.
